The Sustainable Honeybee Program (SHP) offers 5 frame medium nuc colonies for $175.
These include the following in a cardboard transport box:
- a marked queen
- 3 frames with brood of various ages
- 1 frame with food/pollen
- 1 frame of drawn comb
All hives were treated with Oxalic Acid in January and will be inspected by the Virginia State Apiary Inspector before sale.
Genetics: Our bees are primarily locally mated Carniolan/Italian bees. Each year we add a few new queen lines and seek good hygienic behavior.
Early Nucs with Overwintered 2023 queens will be available by mid-April. Limited quantity. These colonies will build up fast, be prepared.
Nucs with New Spring 2024 queens will be available in mid-May. Limited quantity. If problems with Mother Nature diminish our nuc production and nucs are not available by May 21, your money will be refunded in full.
Based on your location, delivery of your nucs may be available for a fixed $50 additional fee. A staff member will be in touch based on your location.
Pick up at SHP’s location near Purcellville, Virginia will be coordinated with the SHP staff.
All nuc purchases are based on availability.
