The weather was sprinkly today. The single body nucs all got a top box. With the exception of of recently caught swarm, they are all bursting at the seams and needed space.
There was talk that we should not have fed the bees as early as we did. It exacerbated space issues in some hives. We removed bottle feeders from nucs.
We didn’t squirt the foundation with sugar waters before giving it to the bees. The theory is this time of year bees are ready to work foundation and growing in population and will take to the new foundation without any issues. This is true in March, April any May. However in June and beyond, they may need more encouragement.
