This week we fed and inspected hives. There’s less of a worry about swarming this time of year. One had queen pheromone to fake bees into thinking they had a queen. We combined some weak hives so they’d have a chance at making it through Winter. In the Spring and Summer we work to save colonies by providing resources. In the Fall, we begin to accept some of the outcomes and take our losses. We try to be realistic about how likely a weak hive would make it through Winter and into Spring.
